The KMRT is a Knowledge Network that has members from across Australia. We provide members with the opportunity to gain value by collaborating with many of Australia's top companies to identify and develop key areas of Strategic or Competitive Advantage.

Sometimes the most powerful insights come from looking outside your realm or industry to get a new perspective. "Organizations stop changing when people stop learning and get stuck in the knowing."1
The regular networking provided by this forum enables the establishment of relationships between Global organisations and some of our smaller domestic ones, private sector and public. The functions that see value in this are as diverse as our organisations. They include CIO's, HRM's, OD, Strategy, Operations, and KM/IM/CM Practitioners.
Members also collaborate in smaller groups called Common Interest Workgroups or (CIWG's) to focus on issues identified in the Roundtable Meetings as priority to them.
Well 2009 is certainly going to be a challenging year, in particular with the global economic down turn, and many organisations restructuring yet again. So much to do!
This latest economic crisis is forcing many organisations to review their focus on their burning business issues. Especially those relating to;
-
retention of key organisational memory,
-
reduction of duplication and rework, and
-
business improvement initiatives relating to innovation and knowledge sharing.
Many of the organisations in the KMRt are challenging that and finding it is an opportunity for which the time is right to incorporate them into the strategic agenda.
With businesses looking to cut costs, many of the approaches used by successful organisations internationally are a way to capture the low hanging fruit of cost reduction through reducing the rework and duplication. Not to mention identification of key personel who may slip between the cracks of organisational downsizing which is often not found out until it is too late.
We must also grasp the challenges and opportunities of transforming our cultures to share knowledge especially when some employees leaving may have important information that is of value to the business.
The beginnings of the Roundtable network were in times similar to these. Organisations recognised that in tough times they needed to pull together and share ideas even more than before. At the KMRt we have been growing over the last 3 years and our members have been focussing on coming up with innovative ideas to help their organisations become smarter by learning what is really going on within their organisations and how they can leverage off it. They are also sharing effectively across the industry groups that are part of this network and introducing best practice in many different areas.
